# What is admin costing your business?

Rote's admin cost calculator at https://rotehq.com/calculator/ works out what recurring admin costs a business each year. It runs entirely in the visitor's browser: nothing is sent, stored or tracked.

## What it asks

- The recurring jobs: chasing, copying information between systems, rebuilding the same report.
- For each job: how many people do it, and how many hours a week each.
- The cost per hour of the people doing it, in rand (R) or pounds (£). The two are never converted into each other.
- Weeks worked a year (46 by default, after leave and public holidays; the visitor can change it).

## How it works it out

- Hours a week = the sum of people × hours a week for each job.
- Hours a year = hours a week × weeks worked a year.
- Cost a year = hours a year × cost per hour.
- 40-hour weeks a year = hours a year ÷ 40.

It shows what the work costs now. It does not estimate savings: not every job should be automated, and Rote's Automation Audit measures which ones are worth it before anyone commits to a build.
